Step 1: Create a New Size Chart
To get started, open the Jotly Size Chart app in your Shopify admin and click the Create Chart button.
Chart Name
Enter a descriptive name for your size chart. This name is used internally to help you identify and manage your charts, especially when you have multiple ones. For example: "T-Shirt Size Chart", "Dress Size Guide", or "Kids Clothing Sizes".
Tip: Choose clear, descriptive names that make it easy to find the right chart later. This is especially helpful when managing multiple charts for different product types.
Priority
The priority field determines which chart shows when a product has multiple charts assigned to it. Higher numbers take priority. You can leave this as the default value for now and adjust it later if needed.
Status
The status field controls whether your chart is visible on your store:
- Active: The chart is published and will appear on your store for the assigned products.
- Draft: The chart is saved but not shown on your store. This is useful when you want to prepare a chart and publish it later.
For now, set the status to Active so you can see your chart once it's complete.
Step 2: Assign Your Size Chart
Now you need to decide where your size chart will appear. Jotly offers multiple targeting options to give you complete control over which products display which charts.
All Products (Global Chart)
The simplest option is to assign your size chart to all products in your store. This creates a global chart that appears as a fallback when no more specific chart is assigned to a product.
This is useful when you have a general size guide that works for most of your products.
Specific Products
If you want complete control, you can assign a chart to specific individual products. Simply select the products from the dropdown menu.
When to use this:
- You have unique products that need their own size charts
- You want to override collection or tag-based charts for certain products
- You're testing a new chart on a few products before rolling it out
Priority Rule: Product-specific charts always take the highest priority and will override any other targeting method.
Collections
The most common approach is to assign size charts by collection. For example, if you want the same size chart to appear on every product in your "T-Shirts" collection, simply select the T-Shirt collection from the dropdown.
Benefits of collection-based targeting:
- Easy to manage—one chart for all products in a collection
- Automatically applies to new products added to the collection
- Perfect for product categories that share the same sizing
Example: Create a "Women's Dresses" chart and assign it to your "Dresses" collection. Every dress in that collection will automatically show this chart.
Tags
You can also target products by their tags. Select one or more tags from the dropdown, and the size chart will appear on any product that has those tags.
When to use tag-based targeting:
- You have products across multiple collections that share the same sizing (e.g., products tagged "oversized-fit")
- You want flexible control without restructuring your collections
- You use tags to organize products by characteristics like fit, style, or season
Example: If you tag all slim-fit products with "slim-fit", you can create one "Slim Fit Size Chart" and assign it to that tag. All products with that tag will show the chart.
Vendors
If you sell products from multiple vendors or brands, you can assign different size charts to different vendors. This is useful because different brands often have different sizing standards.
Example: Create a "Nike Size Chart" for all Nike products and an "Adidas Size Chart" for all Adidas products. Select the vendor from the dropdown and all products from that vendor will automatically use the correct chart.
Product Metafields (Advanced)
For advanced targeting, you can use product metafields. This allows you to assign a chart to all products that have a specific metafield with a specific value.
For example, if your products have a metafield called "fabric_type", you can create separate charts for "silk", "cotton", "denim", etc. All products with that metafield value will automatically show the correct chart.

For this tutorial: Let's create a chart for the "T-Shirts" collection. Select your T-Shirts collection from the dropdown and proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Build Your Size Chart
Now comes the fun part—designing the actual size chart that your customers will see.
Choose a Starting Point
Jotly gives you two ways to get started:
- Use a Template: Choose from multiple prebuilt templates that already have a professional layout. Simply pick one that fits your needs and customize it.
- Start From Scratch: Build your chart from the ground up with complete control over every element.
When you choose the "From Scratch" option, you'll see a set of commonly used layouts to help you get started quickly. For example, if you just need a simple size table, you can select that layout and customize it.
Understanding Blocks
Size charts in Jotly are built using blocks. Blocks are the building units that make up your chart. You can add, remove, and rearrange blocks to create the perfect layout.
Step 4: Set Up Your Size Table
Let's add a table block to display your sizing measurements.
Configure Unit Settings
You'll see three dropdowns to configure how units work in your table:
- Original Unit: Select the unit for the values you'll enter in the table (cm, inches, meters, etc.)
- Convert To: Choose which unit your values will convert to when customers toggle units on your store
- Enable Unit Conversion: Turn unit conversion on or off. If set to "No", customers won't see a unit toggle
Example: If you enter values in centimeters (original unit), select inches as "Convert To", and enable conversion, customers can switch between cm and inches with one click. All values convert automatically.
Import Data Quickly
Instead of entering data manually, you can import from an existing size chart(as shown in the video below):
- Click the Import Table button
- Open your existing size chart (could be a spreadsheet, document, or website)
- Select the entire table by dragging your mouse over it
- Copy it (Ctrl+C or Cmd+C)
- Paste it into the import box in Jotly
- Click Import
Your table will fill instantly! Review the imported values and adjust anything if needed.
Pro Tip: You can also import from Excel, Google Sheets, or even copy-paste from an existing product page. This saves tons of time when migrating from another size chart solution.
Manual Editing
You can also create and edit your table manually:
- Click any cell to edit its content
- Add new rows by clicking the + Add Row button
- Add new columns with the + Add Column button
- Delete rows or columns using the delete icon
- Rearrange rows and columns by dragging and dropping
Step 5: Add Additional Elements
Beyond the sizing table, you can add extra elements to make your size chart more helpful and informative.
Text Block
Add a text block above or below your table to include:
- Measuring instructions ("Measure around the fullest part of your chest...")
- Fit notes ("This style runs small, consider sizing up")
- Care instructions or material information
- Contact information for sizing help
Image Block
Add images to show:
- How to measure correctly (measurement diagrams)
- Fit comparison photos
- Model wearing the product with measurements listed
- Size comparison charts
Video Block
Embed a video to provide:
- Step-by-step measuring tutorials
- Fit guide demonstrations
- Styling tips for different sizes
Rearrange Blocks
You have full control over the layout. Drag and drop blocks to rearrange them in any order:
- Put instructions at the top
- Add an image, then the table, then additional notes
- Create any layout that makes sense for your products
Layout Tip: A common structure is: Instructions → Measurement Diagram → Size Table → Fit Notes. This guides customers through the sizing process step by step.
Step 6: Save and Publish
Once everything looks good and you're satisfied with the layout and content, simply click the Save button to finalize your size chart.
If you set the status to Active in Step 1, your chart will now be live on your store for all the products or collections you assigned it to.
